The Wildside

by Colin Ferries, Eldlings participant

Through the green meshed gate a concrete path lay ahead

Clean boots donned off I wonder gently do I tread,

Yet another smaller meshed gate I need to enter

Red spongy tarmac lays ahead me I follow to the centre.

Smoke rises from beyond the penthouse sheds and above the trees

Wondering on toward the sounds of voice and song, cups of teas,

Axe in hand splitting logs into kindling fire under control bellows

Children sitting on the makeshift seating are very merry fellows.

Evergreen tree stand out amongst the deciduous colourful bark

Long twisted grass heavy walking muddy in places it's not a lark,

Timbers bricks and old tyres hide themselves in the undergrowth

Pallets we move create a walkway to the far shed too us both.

Heavy timbers hidden in th ehedge transported to assemble high

Three tier's no-less the base lined strong irons and screws do tie,

Willow arches neatly tied together life off one's hat passing under

Secret gardens lay all about near the railway does the Metro thunder.

Connecting with nature at its finest clouds hang heavy glimpse of Sun

High green meshed fence enclosed lined with pricly hedges no fun,

Various areas yet to be tamed careful where you tread hidden bricks

We all enjoy the thrill of adventure learn new simple or difficult tricks.
